Jim Bright

Professor Bright has over 19 years of international consulting experience specialising in careers and training.
The reality is that shift happens to all of us. In the 20th century we became attached to the goals of predictability and stability in work and career. For the 21st century we need to re-embrace the realities of change, to understand and capitalise on this, monitoring both the fast and the slow shifts and knowing what really matters.
As well as being a Partner in Bright and Associates, Jim is Professor of Career Education and Development at the Australian Catholic University where he coordinates the Graduate Certificate in Career Education taught in Melbourne and Sydney. He has trained hundreds of career counsellors around Australia, and in New Zealand and America. He works with individuals and organisations, assisting both with transition processes and training. He has a degree and a PhD in Psychology and has pioneered the application of chaos and complexity theory approaches to career development. He has published nine books, writes a weekly careers column, The Ladder, for the Sydney Morning Herald, and appears regularly as a guest talking careers on Radio 2UE.

Ian Hutchinson

Ian Hutchinson is CEO and founder of Life by Design©. Ian helps organisations by providing innovative employee engagement solutions to maximise performance, productivity and profitability.
Employee engagement is basically having the right people in the right place at the right time and at the right price. Continually breaking in new employees is no way for companies to continue being competitive and whilst some employees quit and leave – the really bad news is others quit and stay. Employee engagement is about making sure they not only stay but are passionate about the company and the work they do and are therefore more committed and productive. Recognised as Australia’s leading lifestyle strategist, Ian is also a top international speaker, having presented throughout Australasia, Europe, North America & Asia. He has a unique combination of qualifications in psychology, business management and marketing, and has trained internationally in career development. He has worked with many of Australia’s leading companies such as 2007 Hewitt Best Employers – SAP and Vedior (Select Recruitment), 3 Mobile, Westpac, Stryker, McDonalds, Commonwealth Bank, AMP, Boost Juice, Flight Centre and Bakers Delight to name a few.

Julie Garland McLellan

What keeps you awake at night? A masterclass for directors of not-for-profit enterprises.
Julie’s approach to working with Boards is focused on outcomes, not on the process or documentation. The ultimate objective is to empower Boards to add value and to be more effective in their governance responsibility. According to Julie, foresight amongst the best Boards involves board members making contributions by understanding big picture trends, how to position the company for future success, and what competitive threats are emerging. To really add value they must do this sooner than the rest of the market. Julie has an MBA from one of the world’s leading management schools in Madrid, has worked in senior management & CEO roles, and now serves on several Boards. She is the author of ‘All Above Board - Great Governance for the Government Sector’ and is a one of Australia’s leading governance consultants.

Steven Bradbury

Gliding over the finish line at the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games saw Steven Bradbury’s name etched into the history books. Skating in the 1000m final and in fifth place, the unthinkable happened. Race favourite Apolo Anton Ohno from the United States and the other three skaters ahead of Steven, fell in a tangle of skates, arms and legs on the ice. Leaving the path clear for Steven, he glided across the finish line in first place and became the first ever Australian to win a Winter Olympic Gold Medal!!! This was a fitting end to his athletic career. Some people have described Steven’s victory as lucky. Winning Olympic Gold took a lot more than just luck. As in business, STRATEGY and PLANNING were key ingredients in that success. Four Olympic campaigns and 12 years of hard training including an Olympic Bronze in 1994, 11 stitches in his leg and a broken neck in 2000 are testimony to that hard work and persistence. Since his remarkable victory Steven Bradbury is inspiring people all over the world spreading his message of Passion and Persistence. When your moment to shine presents itself will you be positioned and prepared to ‘DO A BRADBURY’.
