Acclaim Apprentices and Trainees: Meeting business needs through group training

07-May-2014

Acclaim Apprentices and Trainees is a Queensland-based group training organisation (GTO) with over 25 years of service and experience in the Sunshine Coast region. A  Quality Endorsed GTO and member of the Group Training Australia Network, Acclaim has helped thousands of individuals complete an apprenticeship or traineeship.

Acclaim’s core focus is to create employment opportunities through apprenticeships and traineeships, matching individuals with host employers' needs and supporting the apprentices and trainees through to completion.

Acclaim has helped close to 4,500 individuals develop their skills and gain qualifications that set them up to reach higher qualifications, manage businesses, create companies and make valuable contributions to the local economy.

The company specialises in offering full-time, part-time and school-based apprentices or trainees in many industries, including construction, engineering, hospitality, health and community services.

As the legal employer of the apprentices and trainees, Acclaim manages the payroll and workplace health and safety requirements and monitors the training delivery, in addition to visiting and supporting both the host employers and apprentices.

Acclaim also develops specific training plans to meet industry standards and host employer requirements. In addition to supporting apprentices and trainees through to completion and beyond, Acclaim also focuses on the business needs, ensuring host employers have access to the most suitable apprentices and trainees for their position.

"When we commence an apprentice or trainee we look at the best fit scenario for our client's business. This in turn leads to long term employment outcomes with the primary goal of successful continued employment and our apprentices and trainees obtaining their qualifications," says Acclaim General Manager Darren Carlson.

Acclaim worked closely with the local community through the Australian Apprenticeship Intervention Project (AIP). This included offering at-risk apprentices employment and training opportunities in the construction industry while assisting the local community recover from flood damage and other disasters.

In particular, Acclaim stepped forward to help the small community of Cooloolabin repair their local hall after the building became too run down to use. While the residents believed the repair of the hall was out of reach due to high costs, Acclaim offered through the AIP program, eight apprentices over seven weeks and returned the building to a safe standard.
