Group training shows its colours at Australian Training Awards

18-Nov-2016 Apprentices, trainees, employers and individuals from the group training network featured among the finalists and winners at the 2016 Australian Training Awards in Darwin last night.

Australia’s national apprentice employment network, Group Training Australia (GTA) has congratulated all of the group training representatives who reached the finals as well as those who took away top prizes. Winners were:

Douglas Wright AM - Lifetime Achievement Award
Mr Wright has been a keen advocate and leader in Australia’s vocational education and training sector for many decades including as an architect of the group training model and a founding member of the Hunter Valley Training Company.

WPC Group Ltd - Australian Apprenticeships - Employer Award
WPC Group and the Nissan Motor Co. (Australia) collaborated to create a unique Mentored Apprenticeship Program known as NISSMAP which offers Nissan dealers around Australia tailored skills including an accelerated apprenticeship qualification.

GTA National Executive Officer Ms Lauren Tiltman said that the group training winners and nominees, as well as their host businesses and group training organisations, had performed outstandingly.

“These are the sector’s peak national awards, so to reach the finals and be selected as a national winner is a great honour.

“Credit goes not only to the enormously skilled individuals and organisations, but to GTOs, field officers and trainers who are there for every step of the journey.

“Once again, we see the great depth of talent and the skills that are being developed right across the group training network,” Ms Tiltman said.
