On August 21-24 2006, Cairns Region Group Training (CRGT) in far north Queensland held their 2006 training awards at both Bamaga / Seisia and Weipa. These were sensational events, with a genuine celebration of the hard work, achievements and outcomes that have been attained under the proud banner of CRGT.
The awards were also testament to the extraordinary work done by Group Training Organisations in many remote area indigenous communities. The training award events were a reminder of the hard yards and extra miles that Group Training Organisations undertake in order to provide training and life opportunities to so many Australians, indigenous and non-indigenous, who would otherwise not get that first or second chance. Special guest at the Weipa awards was Troy Cassadaly who kept the crowd entertained throughout the night (and early morning). CRGT knows how to throw a great event and everybody there felt on top of the world – or at least at the tip of the continent!
