Last week’s trip up to Far North Queensland as a guest of Cairns Region Group Training (CRGT) was a great success. The trip, which saw CRGT stage training awards events in both the Bamaga and Weipa communities was proof positive of the extraordinary lengths that GTOs go to in delivering quality employment and training services and additional care and support to many communities around the country.
A convoy of four wheel drive vehicles covering thousands of miles and carting food, stage and entertainment equipment and precious cargo underscored the massive logistical exercise that CRGT willingly undertakes each year to place a well-deserved (though rare) spotlight on the great apprenticeship and traineeship outcomes being achieved in both the indigenous and non-indigenous FNQ communities.
A big thanks and congratulations to CRGT CEO Mr Patrick Korman whose commitment and dedication to the task at hand in very remote FNQ is second to none. My thanks and congratulations also to “Team CRGT” (there’s no ‘I’ in team) who made the whole thing go off like clockwork: Lynda Verevis, Debbie Townson, Ivan Deemal, Mark England, Michael Goodrich, Craig Alexa, Sue-Ann Tillett, Wayne Cummings, Graham and Glenda Brasch.
GTA QLD & NT Executive Officer Dave Mitchell and I were privileged to come along for the ride.
