This code of conduct is based on the principles of truth and honesty and relates both to:
Group Training Australia. or its successor body, its members and staff, and to Group Training Companies, their Managers, Board Members and staff.
Standards
The Code sets the standard for Group Training Companies to maintain ethical standards and remain responsive to the Industrial development of the Australian community.
Group Training Australia
Group Training Australia, through its member Group Training Companies, is committed to: Maximising the potential for the employment, training and personal development of the Australian workforce; The development of uniform and equitable policy objectives, adequate resources and full co-operation between government, employers and those seeking skille training within the Australian industry.
Through its members, Group Training Australia will: Foster the development and co-operation of all member companies displaying leadership and determination in the implementation of policy; Establish an environment of mutual respect and co-operation between government, industry, Association members and the community in the pursuit of these objectives; Ensure an even and efficient flow of communication between the member companies and those with a legitimate interest in the operation of Group Training: Observe the conduct of management practice contained in this code.
Group Training Companies
Each company will:
- At all times discharge allotted and accepted responsibilities with integrity and observe the standards prescribed by the Association in accordance with good management practice;
- Establish policies, pursue objectives a and fulfil obligations in a manner consistent with the code;
- Strive to promote, implement and monitor the training programs relevant to industry and the community;
- Implement relevant policy objectives as determined by the Association;
- Observe the conduct and management practices contained in the code;
- Work with other member companies of Group Training Australia in a spirit of mutual support and co-operation;
- Conduct themselves in such a manner as will not damage the business operation nor injure the standing and reputation of Group Training Australia and its member companies;
- Refer to the Association all matters that have the potential to impact on other member companies.
The Manager
All managers have professional responsibilities and will:
- Demonstrate integrity and compassion and avoid discriminatory practices;
- Have regard for the professional reputation and business of others;
- Not use authority or office for personal gain;
- Respect the confidentiality of information which comes to them in the course of their duty;
- Balance the interests of their employer with their own responsibilities and commitments;
- Engage in continued learning to improve managerial competence and pursue new ideas and advances in technology;
- Accept only such work as they believe they are competent to perform and obtain expert advice where necessary;
- Be conversant with the codes of other institutes and Associations, relevant to their responsibilities;
- Give objective opinions when called upon to do so;
- Ensure that all contracts and terms of business are clear, concise and honoured in full, unless terminated or modified by mutual consent;
- Ensure that all communications are inclusive, informative, true and not misleading, respecting the moral standards and the dignity of the individual.
The Manager and the Community
Managers will recognise the interests of the community and act accordingly:
- Participating in community activities, utilising available professional skills;
- Making every endeavour to conserve the environment, having regard to the rights of future generations;
- Preserving and, wherever possible, improving the quality of life within the company’s sphere of influence;
- Promoting the development of further understanding in society of the role of Group Training Companies and their place in the business community;
- Encouraging community acceptance of entry level training as a viable career option for disadvantaged groups, including women;
- Excluding all corrupt practices
The Manager and Group Training Association of Victoria
Manager will take appropriate actions to achieve the objectives of Group Training Association of Victoria Including:
- The effective and economic management of all available resources;
- The appointment, training and development of employees, seeking to integrate their aspirations with the requirements of the company;
- The creation of an equitable, friendly, safe, healthy and satisfying work environment;
- The practice of delegation of authority wherever possible and the acceptance of responsibilities for the work of subordinates;
- The fair and equitable treatment and remuneration of employees;
- The immediate and full disclosure of any personal interest, refraining from activities which conflict with the interests of the association;
- The frequent review of these objectives.
